Coburg Glass Prize exhibition

As a nominee for the Coburg Glass Prize 2014, I travelled to the opening and presentations in Bavaria in April.  As well as seeing the exhibition of nominated works, which is amazing, it was a great opportunity to meet up with the other artists, many from Britain. The exhibition is spread across several galleries in the Veste Coburg (a castle overlooking the town) and the European Museum of Modern Glass in nearby Rodental.  The exhibition goes on till 14th September 2014 and comprises 170 works of art by 150 international artists from 26 nations.

Coburg trip

We had a great trip to Bavaria at the end of November dropping off artwork for the Coburg Glass Prize exhibition next year.  We had a quick look round at the Modern Glass Museum which will be one of the venues for the exhibition beginning April '14.  The museum is quite new, but already has a fantastic range of work, which I'm looking forward to looking at more closely next year.  The exhibition will be split between the Glass Museum and the Veste, a castle with a museum and art programme which overlooks the town.

Coburg Glass Prize exhibition

Exciting news - Just heard one of my installations has been selected for the prestigious Coburg Prize for Glass Exhibition in Germany next year!

Getting ready for exhibition with my sister Ursula Kit Price-Moss this month at a gallery in the Pyrenees

We all had a good time at the first session of the Introduction to Fused Glass course I am running in my studio this month.  I will be running a similar course after Christmas and there are still places on the Introduction to Cast Glass course in November (see Tuition section for details).

Here is a link to an interview I recently did about my life and work on BBC Radio Suffolk for the Lesley Dolphin show.  It is illustrated with still images related to the conversation.

Yesterday I sat for John Glover's 'Capturing a likeness' portrait demo at the Artworks annual exibition at Blackthorpe Barn near Bury St Edmunds.

Next Sunday, 23rd September 2012, I will be opening my studio to the public as part of the local Waveney Springs Art Trail. (Click here for details).  Visitors will be able to see artwork and find out about the processes which go into making it.

We're in the second week now of the Artworks annual group show held in Blackthorpe Barns, near Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk.  I have four sculptures and a glass and video installation, Sisters, in the exhibition alongside painting, sculpture and prints by 29 other artists from East Anglia.

Family Tree, my installation on show at the British Glass Biennale at the Ruskin Centre, Stourbridge  (previously shown in the CGS's Glass Games: a desire, a dream, a vision at Redchurch Street Gallery). Inside a vintage dome, three dolls perch in a tree in place of the original taxidermy exhibit. Behind them plays video comprising 1930s film originally taken by my grandmother layered with my animation of the glass and original dolls.  The piece explores the way we try to make sense of our roots by piecing together family history, and tells the story of a family's journey from childhood in India, to growing up in Scotland and adulthood in England, where a new journey begins with the next generation.

Some pics from the private view of the British Glass Biennale and following day, showing some of the range of pieces.
